Structured data and AI search

Guests increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI overviews. For your house to be described correctly there, the website needs machine-readable facts.

In short

Structured data describes house, rooms, amenities, location and prices in the page source using the Schema.org vocabulary, for example as Hotel, HotelRoom and LocationFeatureSpecification. Search engines and AI assistants can read these facts unambiguously. HOHEIT generates them automatically from the editorial system, adds an llms.txt and checks them with every publication.

For hotels

Amenities such as spa, dogs allowed or charging point are not only in the running text but a clear attribute that search systems can assign.

For hosts with holiday rentals

Your apartments are described with number of rooms, beds, amenities and location so that an AI query like “holiday apartment with balcony and dog in Styria” can recognise them at all.

Why running text is no longer enough

A sentence like “your four-legged friend is warmly welcome” is clear to guests. To a system comparing hundreds of houses it is a guess. Structured data turns it into an unambiguous statement: pets allowed, yes. The same goes for check-in time, parking, accessibility, sauna, distance to the lift or price range.

What we mark up

  • House

type (hotel, guesthouse, holiday apartment), address, geo coordinates, contact, stars, price range, check-in and check-out.

  • Rooms and units

    occupancy, beds, size, amenities.

  • Amenities

as individual attributes, for example Wi-Fi, parking, pets, wellness.

  • Offers

    packages with price and validity.

  • Frequently asked questions

as an FAQ that is visible on the page.

  • Reviews

only genuine, verifiable reviews and only under Google’s rules.

llms.txt and content for AI assistants

In addition we create an llms.txt, a short overview of your most important pages in simple form, and write pages so that the core statement is in the first paragraph. Whether and how individual AI providers use such files varies. Clear facts on the page help in any case. Background in the article “How your hotel shows up in AI search”.

How to check your site yourself

  1. Google’s Rich Results Test

enter the address of a room page and check whether structured data is recognised.

  2. Schema Markup Validator

shows all statements according to Schema.org, including those Google does not display as a search result.

  3. Comparison with the page

every statement in the structured data must also be visible on the page.

What we do not do

We do not invent reviews, awards or amenities. False statements in structured data can lead to manual actions by Google and damage guests’ trust. Markup is part of every direct booking website.

Frequently asked questions

Do structured data guarantee a mention in ChatGPT or Google?

No. They raise the chance of being recognised and cited correctly; no provider offers a guarantee.

Can you also add structured data to our existing site?

Often yes. Whether that makes sense, the free technical check shows.

What is the difference between structured data and SEO texts?

Texts are written for people; structured data describes the same facts in a fixed, machine-readable form. Both must match.

May reviews from portals go into the structured data?

Google sets rules for reviews in structured data, among other things on self-serving reviews. We only mark up reviews if they comply with these rules.
