The best moment to sell is not check-in
At check-in the guest is tired, the front desk is busy, and the offer of a later check-out feels pushy. Three days earlier it is different: the guest looks forward to the trip, plans the day and decides calmly. Platforms know this and send their messages at exactly that point. On your own bookings you can do the same.
What is offered
Time
later check-out, earlier check-in, one more night if free.
Food
breakfast for guests without breakfast, dinner on the day of arrival, a breakfast basket in the apartment.
Comfort
parking or garage, wellness slot, rental bikes, cot, dog bed.
Occasion
flowers, sparkling wine, a birthday cake, a voucher for the restaurant.
Local
ski pass pre-order, lift ticket, entry to the thermal baths, as far as you offer it.
Every service has a price, availability and rules: late check-out is only offered if the room is not occupied the next day; breakfast only if it is not already in the rate.
How the guest sees it
A message by email or WhatsApp with three to four matching offers, price alongside, one click to book. Payment runs like the main booking through the booking flow, and the extra is written to the reservation in your system.
The hotel case: 30 rooms, 68 percent occupancy
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Arrivals per year | about 2,500 |
| Guests who open a message | 60 percent |
| Of those, book an extra | 12 percent |
| Average amount per extra booking | 28 euros |
| Extra revenue per year | about 5,000 euros |
All values are example values, not industry figures. Calculate with your number of arrivals and your prices.
The holiday rental case: the breakfast basket
Hosts have fewer services, but the right ones: a breakfast basket from the village baker, firewood, early final cleaning, later check-out on Sunday. The order is passed on to the baker, see self check-in for the rest of the process.

Frequently asked questions
May we send guests offers before arrival?
Messages about handling the booked stay are part of the contract. Additional offers within them are common but should be moderate and allow an opt-out. We do not replace legal assessment of your individual case.
What about guests from Booking.com?
They too have a reservation in your system and a way to be contacted through the platform or, with consent, directly. Whether and how you write to them depends on the platform’s rules.
Is late check-out checked automatically?
Yes. The offer only appears if the room is free the next day. If someone books in the meantime, the extra is no longer offered.
How is it paid?
Through the same payment route as the booking, such as card or Apple Pay. The amount appears on the invoice for the stay.
