Booking flow and payment

From travel dates to a paid booking in three steps, on your own site, with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer.

Contactless payment with a smartphone at a card terminal

In short

A good booking flow leads guests in three steps from travel dates to a paid booking: dates, room, details and payment. HOHEIT builds it straight into your website, checks availability live in the channel manager before completion and handles payments through Stripe, including deposit, security deposit and strong customer authentication.

For hotels

Deposits and cancellation terms per rate are applied automatically, and the booking appears in the PMS with its payment status.

For hosts with holiday rentals

The money goes straight to your account, security deposits are held instead of transferred, and you no longer have to send any guest an IBAN.

Three steps, one screen per step

  1. Dates and guests

calendar with free days, minimum stay visible straight away.

  2. Room or unit

price for the whole stay, cancellation terms, perks for direct bookers.

  3. Details and payment

only the fields you really need, payment on the same page.

Payment methods

  • Cards and wallets

credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe.

  • Deposit and balance

percentage or amount per rate, balance collected automatically before arrival.

  • Security deposit

as a hold on the card instead of a bank transfer.

  • Bank transfer

for groups or companies, with an automatic payment reminder.

Security and law

Card data never touches your server; it goes directly to the payment provider. Strong customer authentication under PSD2 runs along in the background. Prices include tourist tax and cleaning where they apply, so the final price is clear before the click on “Book”. The booking flow is part of the direct booking website and writes every booking back through the channel manager integration.

What guests want to know before clicking “Book”

  • Final price

the amount for the whole stay, including tourist tax and cleaning, not just a price per night.

  • Cancellation terms

until when free, what applies afterwards, in one sentence.

  • What is included

breakfast, parking, final cleaning, bed linen.

  • When payment is taken

immediately, as a deposit or on arrival.

  • Contact

how the guest can reach you before arrival.

If one of these is missing, the guest looks for it elsewhere, often on the portal where they are used to getting the answer.

Rates and conditions

Many houses offer two rates: a flexible one with free cancellation and a cheaper one without. The booking flow shows both side by side, with the conditions right at the price. The rates themselves come from your channel manager so they are regulated the same way on all channels.

What we measure

How many guests start a booking, how many reach the payment, how many complete it. Where people drop out shows what gets improved next.

Frequently asked questions

What fees apply to payments?

The payment provider’s fees, depending on card type and origin. They are usually considerably lower than the commission of a booking portal.

Can guests also book without paying immediately?

Yes, for example with a card guarantee and charging only on arrival. You set this per rate.

How does a security deposit as a hold work?

The amount is reserved on the guest’s card but not charged. After departure the reservation is released or, in case of damage, collected in whole or in part.

Do we need our own Stripe account?

Yes, payments go directly to your account. We guide the setup; you complete the verification of your business with Stripe.
